Back in May I decided to continue my charitable run and chop almost 10 inches of my hair off for a good cause...
As most of you will know, I've had very very long hair for a very very long time!
As you will also know, I have a massive girl crush on Taylor Swift, and after seeing her gorgeous hair at the Brits this year, I started to contemplate chopping mine off in a similar fashion.
I had always said that if I ever chopped my hair off, I would love to be able to donate it to charity, and began some research as to whether or not my hair would be accepted. I knew full well that this was going to be the deciding factor as to whether or not I went ahead with the dramatic cut!
I found the Little Princess Trust online, who are an amazing charity that take hair donations to make real-hair wigs for children with cancer. After measuring my hair's length with a ruler multiple times, and checking the condition, I found that it was eligible, and so booked in to get it done on the 8th May after sitting my third CIMA exam.
With so many mixed opinions about me cutting off my hair, I was extremely nervous, and took my mum with me for moral support (she also makes a great photographer!)
Here are a few snaps of the big chop in action:
I was very proud that I didn't cry when mourning the loss of my hair, and I think that I was comforted by the fact that it was going to a good home. It definitely helped that my hairdresser was amazing, and that I was made to feel so welcome in the beautiful salon, but it was much easier than I had imagined.
The finished product got fantastic comments and so many compliments, and I've kept my short do ever since.
I bagged my two ponytails and sent them straight off to the Little Princess Trust, and crossed my fingers in hope that they would be safely received. Almost 6 weeks later, I was ecstatic to receive the following email and certificate of thanks from the charity, and I can rest knowing that my hair has gone towards a wig for a little Prince or Princess that needs it more than I do!
